Jean Paul Gaultier is a French fashion designer born on April 24, 1952. He is the founder and namesake of the Jean Paul Gaultier fashion label.
Gaultier started his career in 1970 working as an assistant to Pierre Cardin before moving on to Jacques Esterel and Patou. His first collection was presented in 1976, but it was not until 1982 that he rose to prominence with his signature "Conical Bra" for Madonna during her Blond Ambition Tour.
Gaultier's style combines traditional tailoring with unconventional materials such as denim, leather and plastic. He has also been known for using unusual models in his shows, including older men and full-figured women.
